Magin was a multiple prize-winning pianist at several major
competitions and, after recovering from an arm injury in the mid
1960s, recorded a Chopin intégrale for Decca. His piano works are
often based on national Polish elements and his language is derived
from Szymanowski and the French post-impressionists, often pushing the
bounds of tonality but always remaining approachable. Ranging from
thoughtful to violently virtuosic, these pieces should please piano
collectors in general and Polish music collectors in particular.
